all that glitters

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

These are two very glittery pieces I made from photos in Chanel's The Vocabulary of Style book. A wonderful book filled with glamorous photographs of glamorous girls- from when Chanel first launched until the present. I chose these to illustrate because they are both so unique- whether it's the bright neck scarf and checker pattern or the sheer coat and lengthy gloves. There are definitely more to come...

No words can describe how utterly obsessed I am with my new
Bass x Rachel Antonoff oxfords. Whether it's the sheer plastic cut-outs or the western accents, these shoes are to die for. They're surprisingly  comfortable- I wore them  to school today. Even the countless compliments cannot justify how amazing they are. There's nothing like a new pair of marvelous lace-ups!LOVE!

At the first glance, I instantly fell head-over-heels for this powerful spread in  a recent Harpers Bazaar issue. The photos have a bright and extremely colorful outlook on both younger and older women, and how either can pull the theme off. The hair is by far my inspiration. Whether it's the edgy rainbow locks or the sheer sweetness in the indigo, these lovely ladies sure have it right. I've always wanted to do something like that, but only for a day. This spread truly puts the 'dare' in dare to wear- who knew hair like that would look so amazing with vibrant colored garments? I'm especially loving the orange Gucci number- the beading is fantastic. Love!

I made this portrait last night, inspired by tumblr's beachy- hair and Lana Del Rey-esqe floral headband photos. I got to play around with my new blending stump and pencils, plus my vibrant gouache paint and glitters. I had an amazing art filled weekend.

After reading the Bloomingdales holiday catalog, I chose two beautifully unique looks to illustrate. I love the chicness of the salmon pink pantsuit- the matching trousers and blazer are minimally adorable, especially with the same color pointed heels. Props to ever amazing Theory. The color blocking of the Tibi dress is super cute, it adds some edge to the dress's girly silhouette, along with the awesome strappy heels. I have found a huge interest in painting recently, so I have decided to transform this blog into a art and fashion one. After a Blick splurge today, I found the BEST paper ever- try it out:
 Aquarelle Arches. I'm in love.

Lately I have been utilizing my hundreds of Martha Stuart glitter tubes and watercolors. These are two postcards I made for my friend and for my cousins. In the card with the girl, AKA "You're Beautiful", I got to have fun with the dress- I used watercolor, and I love the paint tendencies and beautiful 'accidents' that resulted. For the iPhone card, AKA "iMiss You", I got to design a phone case which was fun, and I got to play with vibrant colors. Love doing these! I'm currently working on a series
of three paintings that I can't wait to show!!!
