PROJECT HILARY- OUTFITTER

(get ready for a long post)

Hilary Sherman, Graphic Designer of TOMS, is my beautiful aunt. At a young age, she was the one who truly exposed me to the fashion world. Without this, I'm not sure that I would have such a love for it now. I've decided to start to "covet" the people who inspire me on a day to day basis. So here is the first person. I dressed, styled, and photographed Hilary and we both had a blast in the process. Here are some outfits that exactly represent Hilary's vintage-chic personality.

Outfit no.1

A slightly oversized duo of a beautifully bedazzled super vintage blouse and creamy silk  Generra shorts. I added my clear Zara clutch and her Toms glasses for an update, plus her amazing Kathryn Amberleigh bootie-heels.

Outfit no. 2

I dressed her in an Audrey Hepburn-esque ensemble for this outfit. Her vintage Lanvin gown looks adorable on her. I added my J.Crew pearls and her YSL stilettos. I attempted a braid up-do. I know I won't be a hairstylist when I grow up.

Outfit no. 3

One of those rare cute and comfy and chic outfits. Wear to work, a party, a dinner, a lunch, or just at home. Flats would look just as great with this outfit. Her Rodarte for Opening Ceremony skirt, my Giant Dwarf headband, her Topshop sweater and Jean-Michel Casabat heels.

Outfit no. 4

Her Yigal Azrouel dress and Nikes. Trust me- this is a major trend. But you MUST know how to do it correctly.

Outfit no. 5

I love her matching polkadot Guilietta top and trousers. They look awesome with her James Pearse puffer, not to mention her green Steve Madden heels. Quite bright.
(sorry for the blurry full body shot- it happens)

Outfit no. 6

Hilary's like me. We are both in love with fancy pants. Hers are from Zara. So I guess we both love Zara too. Her (stolen from my other aunt) vintage T-shirt, Barney's Co Op heels, my Kate Spade shades. Monochrome is sometimes the best way to go.

Outfit no. 7

You can tell by the face of Alber Elbaz of Lanvin that he approves of her gorgeous Lanvin slip dress. She has a couple of these skinny-strapped numbers- and they all look amazing on her. Also, I thought that wearing the pearls down the back added an elegant twist.

Outfit no. 8

The last outfit. We both decided that she would wear this one out first. Her Jane Tran barrette, ALC tank, Jenny Kayne trousers, Prada bag, and clogs. I made her promise to give me the bag in her will because I'm that obsessed with it. Prada + sequins? Is there anything better?

That was enough styling for one day. Expect another post that covers her hipster house.

A CLOUDY DAY WITH SUNNY JO

Saturday, March 30, 2013

 J. Crew blazer and iPhone case// Zara top, clutch, and trousers// Gap sneakers// Chanel necklace// LF arrow knuckle ring// Jill Roberts ring// Lipstick Queen lipstick// Juicy Couture wallet

Geez! I've never had to list the items within my bag...luckily each one of them was worth mentioning. First off, there is never a wrong time for my glitter case. Second of all, I was happy to try out a gift from my friend Jane- this amazing neutral lipstick that I adore. I'm not the biggest makeup person, so it's perfect for me. The wallet was a gift, my first ever "designer" belonging- suuuuuppppeeerrr old!Lastly the clutch itself? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G right? Zara is always up on the newest trends, including this clear clutch one.

Speaking of Jane, I was over at her house today, and she conducted this shoot, and let me borrow her fantastic Chanel necklace! Her little sister, Sunny Jo, was obviously there as well. At first it was annoying that she wouldn't leave us alone, but then I realized that it was actually pretty funny and cute that she wanted so badly to be in the pictures. So here's to you Sunny- a whole post dedicated to your crazy self.

Recently I've realized that most of my wardrobe consists of Zara.I might be obsessed with it. It's just such a great shop. I went there yesterday in search of my annual Coachella outfit search and left with three outfits for the weekend plus these awesome 'fancy pants'. I'd like to think I'm known for wearing the coolest pants. Pants can truly be so much more instrumental than people think they can be.

Enjoy my blue outfit. And slightly blue face.

Master of The House

I will definitely support your decision to wear pinstripe and or seersucker trousers, pants, or overalls- as long as you make an effort to not look like a ring master. Thanks.

WHAT WE DON'T NEED BUT MUST HAVE

Thursday, March 28, 2013

These items may just be the greatest of this whole year (so far). I guess there is always a goal a designer  strives to reach to be the most different- yet most lusted for. Though, an idea circling through my mind has been that the biggest piece of the fashion industry is the name- without the name, you are nothing. Just think about it- lets say that you see the Celine SS 13 fur sandals at Forever 21. You would think they were the MOST hideous shoes ever. Which they kinda are to tell the truth. But they are Celine. And anyone would be glad to have them.

That goes along with the other items- as for the Eugenia Kim 'kitty' cap, one would automatically say "It's not halloween" or "Your not five years old". But now, everyone is meowing for one (no pun intended). Now for the so called 'Book Bag'. This has been an absolute NEED for me ever since I laid my eyes on one. How ingenious! How peculiar! How spectacular! Love the whole idea truly. But thank goodness they havent made a Hunger Games or twilight addition- keeping it classic is totally the way to go.

Every year, seamlessly simple articles are taken and twisted into works of highly respected and amazing art. Bravo to all the masterminds out there.
