DESIGNER HALLOWEEN

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Who doesn't wish they could channel the dark yet extremely fashion conscious Wednesday Addams? Being the collar fan that I am, this is a definite go-to- and the costume doesn't really require much. Needed: A black long-sleeved dress preferably with a white built-in collar, otherwise a separate white collared shirt for under, any kind of black leather shoes- simple and classic, black tights, and if you really want to, red polish, brown eye shadow, and black eye liner. Don't forget the braids!

It has always been a dream of mine to wear a huge fur coat- but for what occasion? Dressing as Margot Tenenbaum is the perfect opportunity to look kookie and cute with a (hopefully) faux fur number. I love the whole outfit- it's one of those ensembles that sound awful but look really cool. Finding the perfect striped Lacoste dress and teddy bear fur coat is extremely difficult- so I went for second best. Needed: Fur coat, Striped collared dress, pink gloves, loafers, a red barrette, camel bag, and smudgy eye liner

Hope everyone enjoyed Halloween! What was everyone? I was Karl Lagerfeld :).

CLEAN CUT

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

One of my fall staples is my pair of Blundstone ankle booties, and though I adore them, I can't seem to shake these more sophisticated numbers from my brain. Or the numbers on their price tags. Nevertheless, these are my absolute favorite booties this season. They all are a great example of a classic item turned edgy. I especially love the gold accents on the Givenchy pair.

PEANUT BUTTER CUPS

Saturday, October 26, 2013

I've been baking a lot lately... and with Halloween just around the corner, I decided to create these Reese's Cups from this super easy recipe. Although this version is amazing, nothing beats the originals in my opinion!

NEW YORK I LOVE YOU

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

New York is my favorite place to be... at least so far in my traveling endeavors. I have never been to Europe or Asia, and I am pretty sure I'll love those too. But at this moment, there is nowhere I would rather be than the Big Apple- which to my satisfaction has many fashion items inspired by its culture. I think I may be visiting there this Spring break, which I'm already excited for. A few of my dream destinations? Ladurée macaroons, the Teen Vogue office, and Melissa's Cupcakes (plus in my opinion the Topshop and Opening Ceremony are better in New York than in L.A.)!

THE MIDI SKIRT

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Asos skirt // Vince top // Topshop jacket // Marc by Marc Jacobs purse // Pedro Garcia heels

The Midi Skirt. A trend coined in the 50's, that is now making its biggest comeback yet. At first, I wasn't all for it- a skirt that ends abruptly in the middle of the calf? It sounds quite unflattering. But, when I stumbled upon this simple tied-at-the-waist number, it hit me just right. Shopping via the internet doesn't work out most of the time for me, but this skirt was like winning the lotto.

the Perfect Clash

Topshop top // Zara skirt-ish shorts and bag // Blundstone boots

I'm not the biggest print person- I usually go for black and white bases and maybe a bit of pattern somewhere in the outfit. I have never clashed prints before, and when I was trying on outfits for school last night I tried on this wildcard just for fun... and it kinda worked. Who knew that camo, floral, and plaid all worked together so nicely? I sure didn't. One of the great things about playing dress up with your wardrobe.

LOST IN TRANSITION

Topshop leather jacket // Madewell top // Zara shorts // Miu Miu purse

Recently, I have noticed that I do not have a certain style. I'm not girly, I'm not punk, I'm not boho- I am everything. I guess I would call myself eclectic, one of many styles. Over all, I wear similar items whether it's a girly or masculine outfit- you will probably find me wearing a button-up shirt and some kind of outerwear. I have also realized that I barely ever wear dresses- pants, shorts, and skirts are my thing.  I haven't found my signature look, and I don't think I ever want to- being eclectic allows me to keep an open mind to the millions of styles and wear whatever I feel like.

SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

images via

I'm stunned by the absolutely crazy but beautiful styling at Givenchy's Paris Fashion Week 2014 show. The diamond incrusted faces are extremely innovative- never seen before on the runway. I love the creativity and it was executed very well, but maybe it's too much? Along with the blinged-out ears, does the glitter make to much of a statement? Does it distract from the clothing- the main event? I think it does. I think the masks are completely amazing- but I think they would be better if they were a part of a Vogue beauty spread, for example.
At the end of it all though, I applaud the choice of the makeup- SO cool.

P.S. it has come to my attention many people do not know how to pronounce Givenchy. It is not Giv-in-chee. It is really Jhee-von-shee. Please and thank you.
