Laduree at Home

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is bake. I won't cook dinner, but I promise i'll bring dessert! I usually stick with variations of cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, but I have recently started to venture into the harder to make sweets category, French macarons being my first victim.

A couple weeks ago I looked up a recipe online that seemed okay at first but that I failed to execute correctly. With almost all of my French pastry chef dreams to dust, I found the Laduree cookbook on a weekend trip to BookMarc on Melrose. With a second attempt, and a waaaayyy better recipe, I kinda succeeded at making a batch of chocolate ones! I'm still not really sure how to make the shell more macaron looking, but it sure tastes right! I would know because I ate like 10. Tip- once they are ready, let them live in the fridge. They are SO good cold. And let me just say- chocolate ganache is an angle sent from above.

the long blazer

COS blazer // Madewell jeans // Golden Goose sneakers // Mansur Gavriel bucket bag // Jennifer Meyer wishbone necklace and turquoise ring // choker from Steven Alan

Long blazers are great. They are basically coats but lighter, so you can wear them all year round. They are dramatic and versatile- pair a long blazer with distressed denim like I did for a casual day look, or cool high waisted pants and a button down for a night out. I found this one at COS (so happy they opened a store in Los Angeles) and I wear it all the time. A good long blazer is the perfect investment because first of all, blazers never go out of style, and second of all, finding a good one is quite rare.
