Hey there.

It’s Nice to meet ya!

Pencils & Pearls is an idea that’s just starting to come to life. I’m so happy you’re here.

The vision of this site is to broadcast my successes and failures so others will be less intimidated by the task of starting. It’s overwhelming, and I often feel incompetent. But I will learn, and I can share some authenticity.

This desire to help others was taught to me through many personal heroes who helped me through hard times. A big part of my story is recovery from alcoholism and codependency. Recovery is a complete overhaul.

In my youth writing was a natural love, and I’m returning to this passion. Embracing and reclaiming my identity as a writer.

I’m so grateful for the other writers who are ahead of me on the journey who have supported, celebrated, and sometimes tolerated me. Who have offered guidance and support. Who have shared their practices and their masterpieces. Who have been exceptionally kind and welcoming. Their accountability and unconditional love has been the greatest foundation of my writing journey. They bring me as much joy as the words on the page.

When I’m writing, I find myself very alive, laughing and crying along with the characters being created. Smiling so big when that perfect plot point shows up, co-creating with the universe. Expanding my own knowledge to write things that are true and honest. Elizabeth Gilbert in Big Magic claims that ideas want to be brought to life, and I hope I can live up to the task and honor of being the vessel.

Thank you for being here. I’m so incredibly grateful for the chance to explore, create, and, hopefully, offer something meaningful to others.
